Job Summary
Location: Support East Bank Demerara
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Diagnose mechanical issues and determine appropriate solutions using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
• Repair and replace defective mechanical parts, components, and systems, including but not limited to bearings, gears, motors, pumps, and hydraulic equipment.
• Operate and maintain industrial machines, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other precision equipment.
• Build or repair precision tools and machine components following technical drawings and instructions.
• Produce precision tools, fixtures, and jigs to support vessel maintenance and repair activities.
• Verify all fabricated parts and repaired equipment meet required specifications before installation or return to service.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure machinery operates at optimal levels with minimal downtime.
• Assist with installation and modification of new equipment and machinery.
• Conduct daily inspections of equipment to identify potential issues before operation.
• Ensure all mechanical operations comply with established safety protocols.
• Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Comply with all company safety policies and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate daily with operators to confirm equipment functionality.
• Report mechanical issues or concerns to the supervisor daily, including diagnostics and repair updates.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager within the scope of work.
Job Description

Requirements:



  • Prior experience with machine tools and industrial equipment.

  • Strong knowledge of machinery parts and systems.

  • High school diploma or GTI certification (or equivalent).

  • Apprenticeship in mechanical operations (an asset).

  • Knowledge and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and instructions.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Physically capable of handling tools and machinery safely.

  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
