The Protected Species Observer III (PSO) will monitor marine mammals and other protected species during surveys, record sightings and acoustic detections in JNCC or approved formats, ensure permit compliance,
and call for shutdown of survey operations when required.

The Candidates’ duties shall include the following:

• Verify vendor and subcontractor compliance with permits, project plans and industry standards. Communicate technical, operational and SSH&E concerns to the QC.


• Monitor presence and location of protected species near field equipment and coordinate with vendor personnel.


• Collect and report protected species observation data.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience (ExxonMobil experience preferred).


• Recognized PSO training.


• Bioacoustics degree or other relevant degree/ qualifications.


• Experienced in environmental sampling, SSH&E standards, and OIMS procedures.


• Must be fluent in English with excellent communication and teamwork skills.


• Proficient in MS Office, emails, meetings and other communication mediums.


• Must be physically fit and adhere to all project health and safety standards, including country-specific certifications necessary for offshore work.
