We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to operate within a food truck.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving local Guyanese dishes in a fast-paced environment while maintaining food safety, taste consistency, and service quality.
This role requires someone who can work independently, manage kitchen space efficiently, and uphold high hygiene standards.
Job Description
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of local Guyanese meals to standard
- Ensure consistent taste, portioning, and presentation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of food truck kitchen area
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and storage protocols
- Assist with inventory, restocking, and ingredient preparation
- Serve customers when needed and support order fulfilment
- Report equipment or supply issues to management
Desired Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Must-Haves
- Proven experience cooking local Guyanese dishes (e.g., cook-up, curry, chowmein, etc.)
- Knowledge of food safety and proper handling practices
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a small space
- Strong hygiene habits and attention to detail
- Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work with minimal supervision
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience working in a food truck or fast-service environment
- Basic customer service skills
- Knowledge of cost control, portioning, or menu prep
- Ability to support during special events or peak periods
