Job Summary
The IT Monitoring Specialist is responsible for the real-time observation and analysis of the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and specialized industrial systems (such as PLC or SCADA). You will be the "first responder" to system alerts, ensuring that technical irregularities are identified and escalated before they impact operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Real-Time Surveillance: Monitor assigned systems, network traffic, and server health logs via tools like Zabbix, SolarWinds, or PRTG.
- Incident Response: Identify and record system alerts or irregular activities; perform initial troubleshooting and escalate high-priority issues to senior engineers.
- Infrastructure Support: Assist in maintaining routers, switches, and firewalls, specifically ensuring that connectivity between shore bases and offshore/remote sites remains stable.
- Security Monitoring: Oversee IP surveillance systems (CCTV) and monitor access logs for potential cybersecurity breaches.
- Data Integrity: Ensure automated backups are completed successfully and monitor system performance benchmarks.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of all incidents, remedial actions, and system status reports for compliance audits.
Candidate Requirements
1. Education & Experience
- Degree/Diploma: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 2–4 years in IT support or network monitoring. Experience in industrial or maritime environments is a significant asset in the Guyanese market.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, or CCNA are highly preferred.
