Job Summary
To install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS). The role ensures the safety and reliability of electrical infrastructure for Company operations.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities



  • Installation: Lay out and install electrical wiring, conduits, fixtures, and control systems in accordance with blueprints and local building codes.

  • Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on transformers, circuit breakers, and backup generators.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment (voltmeters, ammeters) to identify and fix root causes.

  • Compliance: Ensure all work meets GEI (Guyana Electrical Inspectorate) standards. Assist in preparing installations for official inspection and certification.

  • Safety: Maintain a strict "Safety First" approach, utilizing proper PPE and adhering to lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Reporting: Keep accurate logs of repairs, material usage, and inspection results.


 


Required Qualifications & Skills



  • Technical Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Installation from a recognized institution (e.g., GTI, NATI, or LTI).

  • Possession of a valid GEI Electrician’s License (Assistant, Level 1, or Professional level depending on the seniority of the role).


Minimum of 2–3 years of field experience in domestic or industrial settings


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions



  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights (ladders/scaffolding), and outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Willingness to work on-call or shift rotations if required.
