Job Summary
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and control devices aboard vessels.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults using diagnostic tools and correct issues in a timely manner.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems and related machinery.
• Construct and install instrument panels and conduits according to technical specifications.
• Conduct electrical tests (e.g., voltage, resistance, phase angle) to ensure system reliability.
• Maintain and repair generators, switchboards, motors, controllers, distribution panels, and lighting circuits.
• Conduct insulation resistance tests and replace cables as required.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
Supervise or assist with the installation and modification of onboard electrical systems in line with marine regulations
• Repair and maintain engine-related components and perform minor services on inboard and outboard motors.
• Assist with troubleshooting hydraulic, steering, plumbing, and intake systems.
• Ensure all electrical work is performed in compliance with safety standards and protocols.
• Maintain inventory levels and requisition electrical parts and components when needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems such as radio, radar, sonar, and fire control equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager within the scope of work.
Job Description

Requirements:



  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Marine Electrical Systems.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in marine electrical systems, preferably on dredgers or ships.

  • Knowledge of shipboard systems, marine regulations, and safety practices.

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

  • Familiarity with PLC systems, control panels, and maritime communication systems.

  • Physically able to perform tasks including walking, standing, climbing, sitting, bending, and visual inspections.

  • Ability to conduct assigned tasks in a timely and effective manner.
